Cantonese Read-Aloud Test 粵音朗讀測試 (CRAT)

粵語為香港95%人口日常使用的語言，是融入香港社會必須掌握的語言。粵語除了應用於日常口語，同時也適用於一些較正式的語體（例如新聞廣播）。香港的高階粵語使用者，應能使用粵語準確讀出繁體中文字，以應付各種語體所需。現時坊間並沒有相關測試可檢定測試者的粵音朗讀水平，本朗讀試正是為了填補這個空缺，為有需要人士提供水平認證。

Cantonese is the daily language of 95% of Hong Kong’s population and a crucial tool for integrating into Hong Kong society. Beyond everyday conversation, Cantonese is also used in more formal registers (such as news broadcasting). Proficient Cantonese speakers in Hong Kong are expected to read traditional Chinese characters accurately in Cantonese, meeting the requirements of various linguistic registers. However, there are currently no relevant tests to assess and certify one’s Cantonese reading-aloud proficiency. The Cantonese Read-Aloud Test (CRAT) has been developed to address this issue and to provide certification for individuals in need.

第十屆粵音朗讀測試（2024年第2次測試）已於11月23日（星期六）舉行。
結果將於測試完成三個月內發出。

The 10th Cantonese Read-Aloud Test (2nd session of 2024) was successfully held on Saturday, 23 November.
Results will be issued within three months after the test date.

對象

歡迎所有希望取得相關認證的人士參加，包括但不限於從事教育、傳媒等行業的人士，或有意了解自己粵音朗讀水平的母語人士或粵語學習者。

Target Audience

The test welcomes all individuals seeking certification in Cantonese reading proficiency, including but not limited to those working in education, media, and related fields, as well as native Cantonese speakers or Cantonese learners who wish to evaluate their reading-aloud skills.

測試範圍

測試評核考生使用香港粵語朗讀的（1）流暢度、（2）口音純度，以及（3）準確度。測試分三個部分，分別要求考生朗讀單字（甲部）、多音節詞彙（乙部）及篇章（丙部）。考試範圍已載於本頁。

Test Scope

The test assesses candidates’ Cantonese reading-aloud abilities in three areas: (1) fluency, (2) accent purity, and (3) accuracy. The test consists of three parts that require candidates to read: characters (Part A), polysyllabic lexical items (Part B), and passages (Part C). Details of the test syllabus are provided on this page.

測試流程

測試分為三部份：甲部為單字；乙部為多音節詞彙；丙部為篇章。

測試開始前，考生會有4分鐘時間準備。工作人員將依次展示丙部的兩道試題，試題上印有篇章的漢字和相應粵拼。每道試題限時閱讀2分鐘。

準備時間結束後，測試隨即開始。首先，考生朗讀考生編號、姓名。接着，工作人員會依次展示甲、乙、丙三部份的試題；考生看見試題後，即開始朗讀試題（毋須朗讀題號及標題）。

每部份的朗讀均設時間上限，超出時限的錄音將不作評分。時限如下：
甲部：2分鐘
乙部：2分鐘
丙部(粵文)：2分30秒
丙部(香港中文)：2分30秒

在整個測試過程中，工作人員的口頭指示均使用粵語。

Test Procedure

The test is divided into three parts: Part A – Characters; Part B – Polysyllabic lexical items; Part C – Passages.

Before the test begins, candidates will be given 4 minutes to prepare during which the test personnel will display two passages of Part C, presented in Chinese characters alongside their Jyutping romanisation. Each passage may be previewed for 2 minutes.

When the preparation time is up, the test will begin immediately. Candidates will first read their candidate number and name aloud and the test personnel will then present the papers for Parts A, B, and C in sequence. Candidates must start reading the displayed content immediately upon seeing each paper (reading the item numbers or passage titles is not required).

Each part has a time limit, and recordings exceeding the limit will not be graded. The time limits are set as follows:
Part A: 2 minutes
Part B: 2 minutes
Part C (Cantonese): 2 minutes 30 seconds
Part C (Hong Kong Chinese): 2 minutes 30 seconds

Throughout the test, all instructions from the test personnel will be delivered in Cantonese.
